Bonner: More Than $2.7 Million Coming to 17th Legislative District for School Construction and Other Various Projects

GROVE CITY – Today, Rep. Tim Bonner (R- Mercer/Butler) announced more than $2.7 million for school construction and other improvement projects across the 17th House District. Funding for these projects is allocated through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). These funds will directly benefit taxpayers across the area.
Two school districts will be awarded funding for school construction projects. Grove City Area School District will receive $600,000 for an HVAC project at the Grove City Area Middle School. The project will replace 10 HVAC units and upgrade associated piping, insulation, curb adapters, electrical, controls and engineering, which will help over 650 students and staff who benefit from clean air.
Lakeview School District will receive $470,000 in funding for a roof repair project at the Lakeview Area Junior/Senior High School facility. The existing roof is 22 years old, deficient and deteriorating. Leaks have become a common occurrence, leading to water infiltration that has reached hallways, classrooms, and the gym. The project will improve the building integrity and indoor air quality.
Additionally, six different entities across the legislative district will receive funding for various project. Projects and funding are listed below:
- Bear Creek Watershed Authority (Bruin area) – $285,300 for installation of emergency generators at four sewage treatment plants.
- Butler County Community Development Corporation – $28,485 for purchasing police equipment upgrades, on behalf of the Slippery Rock University Foundation Inc.
- Grove City Borough – $500,000 for a storm sewer project for flood control water flow improvements.
- Jefferson Township – $190,644 for a new dump truck to be used for road maintenance.
- Perry Township – $489,000 to purchase equipment for road maintenance duties.
- Wilmington Township – $147,293 to purchase a new dump truck.
“From our roadways to flood control, to our classrooms, protecting our citizens is paramount and should always be a target of investment,” Bonner said. “I am proud to have advocated for these projects and equipment, which will create a safer area in the 17th Legislative District.”
The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments stimulate Pennsylvania’s economic growth and infrastructure enhancements.
